Description

The reservoir of possibilities offered by the fundamental laws of Nature, is the key point in the development of science and technology. Quantum computing is the next step on the road to broaden our perspective from which we currently look at the Universe. The movie shows the history of progress in this fascinating field of science, introduces the most promising models and algorithms, explains the advantages of quantum computers over classical solutions, and finally presents wonderful people thanks to which the quality of our lives is constantly being improved.

Even if you don't want to understand the video, please watch till the end at least to realise how big is the human thirst for knowledge.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that all of the necessary information about the authors who were kind enough to share their work, are displayed in the end credits.

Some music seems stolen from John Williams' Home Alone soundtrack.

All I could think of was this - even when we'll have quantum computers at home, we'll still  use them to watch porn.

Wow, even at this super dumb down level, I still felt like my brain was gonna explode..

Quantum computers are not replacement for classic computers. They offer no advantage for playing videos or games, writing texts or anything that use distinct, separate states (due to their complexity, they are actually much slower). They are useful only for operations that process a lot of data with the same algorithm (like cracking passwords or analysis of images and texts); also, they cannot give definitive answers, only probable ones so if you need a definite answer, you still need to check the answer with regular computer and re-run the computation if it does not match (with the same dataset and algorightm, you will probably, but not surely, get a better answer). They are more like additional chip for specific purpose, just like graphics cards and FPUs in modern computers. So in the future, you won't have quantum computer in your home. You will have regular computer with QPU for quantum calculations.
